"People do not waste time. Time waste people. When people are idle and do not utilize time, time still goes on, it does not stop, it will leave people behind. Idle people do not go anywhere, but time moves on. So who is wasted actually? The people are wasted."
Today, I visited the in-campus bookstore to replenish my stock of note books. The owner of this bookstore is an elderly uncle who really enjoys his work and has a positive outlook on life. Besides selling books and stationaries, he always shares ideas and quotes of wisdom he gained from books and experience. Today, he shared with us the interesting piece of wisdom above. Well, that's not his exact words but that's more or less how he put it.
I guess it makes an impact on me because there are times when I plan but did not follow through. When it comes to studying certain subjects I tend to procrastinate and do other useless things instead. I did not grab precious time and do what I should be doing, therefore, I ceased to be productive and made no progress. I think it made sense to my friends too, although it sounds a bit nonsensical in the beginning. I mean, in the end, what Uncle was trying to imply on us is to not waste time, right? Still, I think we managed to get a bit out of Uncle's odd philosphy when the three of us walked out of the store and said to each other, "We're wasted!" (^_^)

Things I Miss Back Home
Right now, these cross my mind:
1. Sushi (where can you get it in India?!)
2. Char siew pau
3. Dim sum (sau mai! nyum2)
4. Hinava (nothing beats this traditional cuisine)
5. Nasi ayam (Juara or Ipoh)
6. Black pepper fish balls (& meat* balls) near Low Yat, BB KL.
7. Penang char kuay teow
8. Sui kaw
9. Brinjal sambal
10. Stewed egg with minced meat*
Owh, the list is going to get longer if i go on like this. See, it's all food!!
I'm a food lover but lots of my favourites are not around (I grew up loving home made and chinese cuisine). Sometimes I think my home country is a food heaven! (I know, I'm writing under influence. I'm hungry!).
However, some things that I find here are not available in my home town, or at least, not as cheap and/or nice as they are here e.g. vanilla milk shake (at Rs 15-20? it's equivalent to 80 sen - RM1.50!), Frappe with whipped cream (can get it from RM5 - less than RM10, nice ones too! Back home it's RM12 above ~imagine Starbucks! huhu), the local Chow Chow Bath is nice (Rs 15 = around RM1), you can even get egg omelette with onions, chilli n some veg at Rs 15 (this too around RM1!). Even Rotis (they don't have roti canai here but they do have paratha, puri, etc) can be bought here at Rs 10, and there'll be 2 - 3 pieces of them whereas back home you can only get 1 piece of Roti. In short, I can manage to have a very filling meal with just Rs 30 (3 pieces of puri and a 1L bottle of mineral water)
However, I still consider my homeland to be a food heaven (^_^) One can find almost any kind of food there. Price is also not that bad, you just need to know where to look and you'll definitely find a place where you get quality and/or quantity at cheap/reasonable price. Sometimes, you don't really mind paying a little bit more for that extra eating pleasure. It all depends on individual taste, right? - Hm.. right now something is crossing my mind - round, soft, cheesy ham filling.. you find it in front of Jusco at Midvalley. What's the name again?! aiya...

Coffee!!
I can't drink coffee anymore. At least not as much as I wanted to.
Actually, I shouldn't drink it at all if I am to avoid staining of the ceramic plates, which I have to bear with for the next 1 year or so. However, avoiding coffee totally is impossible for me. Totally impossible, especially my favourite frappe with whipped cream and chocolate sauce (drooling). Now that's a sinful indulgence, in this case, literally.
I've decided. I'll take mocha instead. At least it's not 100% coffee right? (^.^)

Year of the Ox
Happy New Year. It's 2009.
This time New Year's Eve wasn't much of a celebration (for me). Usually I'd be ushering in the new year by celebrating mass with friends or family. This year - just a simple rosary prayer with Glean since we can't make it to the midnight mass. We finished just in time to hear the fire crackers starting.
1st January, the first day of 2009. What did I do today?
- Woke up at 6.18am. Realized it's a bit late and transportation may be a problem, so decided to cancel plan to attend the 7am New Year Mass.
- Slept til 9.20am.
- Had late breakfast at 10am - Oats (nyum, nyum)
- Did some document backups - PC is lagging huhu
- Joyce arrived around 1.30pm with some fruit cake and snacks (^_^)
- Late lunch at 2.30pm - Made some pasta for everyone (nyum)
- Watched some movie on Pat's laptop.
- 7.30pm: Joyce and Glean went home. I had my dinner - instant ramen with eggs huhu. Pudding for dessert (^_^)V
- Read through a page from anatomy book (A Page!!?)
- Blogged
I can't say the day has been a really productive one. I haven't even come out with a list of resolutions nor had I reflected thoroughly on the past year, but I think 2008 has been great (^_^) I guess biggest challenge at the moment is to overcome laziness heheh. After all, 2009 is Year of the Ox right? Well, it has just been brought to my attention. It's my year - Gambatte!
Have a blast of a year everyone!
p/s anyone with loads of positivity, please kindly donate some to me heheh
